Well, if you read our last blog, what a fantastic summer it has been so far!!! We have been very very lucky with the weather, can't remember the last time we had it so good for so long, it's sunshine all the way! As the weather has been great, we have managed to get out a few times at the Aberdeen Beach front with the Scotland's Bothy Pop Up Shop. It really has been great fun, doesn't feel like working at all when you are set up down the beach on a scorching day, it's great to see everyone buzzing about enjoying the fantastic weather of late. We have a fantastic view of the sea from the Pop Up Shop, saw the dolphins swim past a few times, the kayakers too, oh, and also the wild swimmers, you see them swimming past with their visibility floats behind them, maybe next time we can tempt the swimmers and kayakers up for a browse in the shop lol. We keep an eye out for wind speeds down at the beach front, that is the only thing we have to worry about, if it's too windy then unfortunately it is no use for the Pop Up structure, if the wind gets up to about 20mph then unfortunately that puts a stop to things but so far so good. Hopefully we will be operating down at the beach front again this Sunday 29th July 10am to 3pm. Keep an eye out on our facebook page & instagram where we keep you up to date with this. Here are a few photos from Sunday past.

Well, the weather has been kind of topsy turvy, but what else can we expect for the good old Scottish climate. It has actually been quite nice, plenty of rain and a good bit of sun as well, but all in all it has mostly remained nice and warm. Just recently we ventured off on a 1000 mile trip around Scotland, taking in many wonderful, breathtaking sights that our country has to offer. We took in a lot of the North Coast 500 route but opted for discovery and adventure off the beaten track. The first day was quite a drive, we set out from Aberdeen and headed to Monymusk, then onto Donside, over the Tomintoul road and on to Fort William. We picked up some fishing tackle at Fort William and the next leg of the journey we headed to Sanna Bay, the most Westerly point on the British mainland. From Fort William to Sanna Bay, a lot of the road was very, very, very narrow and windy, up and down, sharp corners, sheep on the road, wildlife everywhere, stunning views, it had it all and it was remote, very remote. One thing was missing though, and very surprising too.......The Midges!. We did encounter the horrid wee beasties but not on the scale that we are used to any time we have visited the West Coast, this was a pleasant surprise, maybe we just got lucky. The drive through the extinct volcano on our approach to Sanna Bay was amazing, the sun going down behind the mountains and over the Atlantic ocean through up a vast array of blazing, intense bold colours through the light misty rain, forming spectacular, intense rainbows, we have never witnessed so many rainbows and so bright as this, it was beautiful to see in such a stunning setting. You can see some photos and videos on our facebook page from the trip.
